The best key lime pie I ever tasted

0

In the kitchen with Sharon this week I made the best key lime pie I ever tasted. I saw where my friend Patricia Nicholes shared her recipe and I thought, yes, this is for me. Off to the store I went to get a few ingredients I didn’t have.

Is Pebble Mulch the answer to low maintenance?

0

Homeowners who want nice landscaping, but dread maintenance tasks like weeding and mulching, often turn to pebble mulch as a solution. Pebble mulching is the practice of covering landscape beds with weed barrier fabric and then spreading a few inches of pebbles or decorative stone. Stone mulch has been widely used in commercial landscapes for many years, simply because, at least in the beginning, it discourages weeds. Wood mulches need to be renewed every year, but stone mulches can last five years or more before they need to be refreshed.

Creed III

Who remembers Rocky with Sylvester Stallone? “Adrian!!!!!” I would be hard pressed to find someone that hasn’t at least heard of Rocky “The Italian Stallion” Balboa. The Rocky franchise began in 1976 with the aforementioned Rocky. It starred Sylvester Stallone and brought 5 direct sequels. If you’ve seen the films, you’ll know that Rocky was best friends with a man named Apollo Creed (played by the great Carl Weathers) and we THEN meet his son years alter named Adonis Creed. The first Creed film came out in 2015. We saw Rocky come back yet again, this time as a trainer, and again in the sequel. I’ll be honest. I waited years to see them. I thought it was a cash grab for Rocky fans and I wasn’t impressed or excited. That changed this year. In leading up to this film I watched Creed and Creed II, and they were incredibly good! I was wrong. So, we now have the 3rd and final? Entry into this series. Something to note. The lead Michael B. Jordan (Creed) directed this film, this is his directorial debut. So how would Creed III stack up with the Rocky films and the previous entries?

Wild Garlic Control

0

Weed control is the biggest maintenance challenge in most home landscapes. Wild garlic and wild onions might be the hardest weeds to deal with. These plants are made to survive most weed removal methods. Wild garlic plants have round, hollow, tubular leaves, with a grayish-blue powdery coating. Wild onions are flat-leaved and non-hollow, green and waxy. Both plants are a nuisance in gardens and lawns, and controlling them both takes the same recipe.

John Wick: Chapter 4

0

Baba Yaga is back! This franchise starring Keanu Reeves started in 2014 with John Wick. The premise was lean. John (Reeves) had lost his wife Helen (Moynahan) to cancer, and he was struggling to keep going. We then see a delivery arrive at his home. In preparing to pass away, Helen (Moynahan) had a dog sent to John. He needed something to care for. John’s home was broken into, and his dog was killed. Baba Yaga (one of his many nicknames) was now thrust back into his former life. He was an assassin and a VERY good one. We then were given two more films (Chapter 2 and Chapter 3) of these franchises. The plots got thicker, and Wick continue to take on the underbelly of the “High Table.” I don’t want to say this lightly, but these films are some of the best action films I’ve ever seen. Some of the set pieces are literally jaw-dropping. The expectations for Chapter 4 were incredibly high for me. Would they live up to the hype and standards set in previous entries? It’s Keanu Reeves! Neo from The Matrix and countless other classics. The cast is there, but as sequels usually go, would this falter?

Multiplying Shrub Bloom

0

If you have flowering shrubs in your landscape, now is a good time to give them some “tough love”. It’s easy for you to double or triple the number of blooms on your flowering shrubs. All it takes is regular shearing once a year, particularly when the plant is young, along with regular feeding. There’s a technique to doing this, and a reason it works so well.
