PIKE COUNTY - On Sept. 7, three Fluor-BWXT employees at the Portsmouth site received Fluor’s prestigious Silver Medallion for their courage, intuition, and quick actions to save the life of a co-worker who was exhibiting physical signs of a potentially serious illness.

OAK HILL – H&H Industries, in collaboration with JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), and the Jackson County Economic Development Partnership (JCEDP), today announced an investment of $233,000 to expand their production capacity, creating five new jobs in Jackson County.

SCIOTO COUNTY - The ebb and flow of life in a small river town can be filled with a variety of opportunities. Every year, a queen is crowned in Portsmouth for River Days, one of the longest-running festivals in Ohio. This year, Mychal and Taylor Cron, daughters of Fluor-BWXT’s Human Resource Manager Todd Cron, earned titles. Mychal was crowned Miss River Days and Taylor earned the title of Young Miss River Days. In addition to receiving other awards, Mychal earned Fluor’s President & Community Services & Leadership Award through the Friends of Portsmouth.

JACKSON - For the past three years, the Make Wellston Beautiful organization has generously donated gift baskets for Fluor-BWXT’s (FBP) annual Employee Giving Campaign raffles and auctions. This year, they provided three baskets, with themes ranging from fall to Christmas.

JACKSON - On Sept. 20, representatives from Fluor-BWXT Portsmouth (FBP) visited the James A. Rhodes Airport in Jackson to present a donation of $50,000 to support an expansion project. By the middle of next year, new aircraft hangars will be built at the facility, making room for a dozen more tenants.

Shawnee State University’s Office of Career Services will host a Business & Manufacturing Career Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 18. The event welcomes SSU students and alumni who are interested in talking with potential employers in business and manufacturing career fields.
