PORTSMOUTH – Ray Douglas Horsley, 92 of Portsmouth, as now passes Friday, June 23, 2023 at SOMC Hospice. He was born April 14, 1931 in New Boston, a son of the late George W. and Virgie Luther (Wright) Horsley, he was a retired machinist for Timken Roller Bearing in Columbus. He was a member of Lucasville Mason Lodge #465, Fairview Missionary Baptist Church and at one time a member of International Foresters. Ray was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Leah F. (Spires) Smith Horsley; a daughter Debra J. (Ronnie) Hines of Medina, Ohio; two step children, Michael Ray (Sally) Smith of Westerville, Michele L. (Christopher) Reed of Columbus; a brother, LaRue (Vickie) Horsley of Rubyville; a sister-in-law, Gloria Horsley of Portsmouth; 7 grandchildren, Heather Vorsas, John Levi Hines, Joshua Shane Hines, Alysha Goodwin, Jacob Reed, Angela Drake, Michael Smith, II and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Jean Gulley; two brothers, Roger Horsley, George E. Horsley, and a step sister, Gracie Burns.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church (1625 Piketon Road, Lucasville, Ohio 45648) with Oscar Perry officiating. Burial will be in Soldier Cemetery in Kentucky. Friends may call at the church from Noon to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
