Candee Blevins did not set out to work in the insurance industry, but now she is general manager at Glockner Insurance. Blevins has served in the capacity of general manager at Glockner Insurance for two years, and has worked for the company for a total of 15 years to date.
Pursuing a career in insurance was not her desire initially, but she learned the business very quickly.
“It was all by fluke. Actually, due to my computer background, I was a textile engineer at Corbin Limited in Ashland, Ky., and they were selling out moving to Mexico,” she said. “I answered a help wanted ad at the unemployment office, and was asked if I knew anything about insurance, and I knew absolutely nothing, but I learned quickly, and was hired then. It was just by chance.”
Though she did not set out to pursue a career in the insurance industry, she has grown very fond of it.
“I think that a lot of people have a misconception about insurance, but I think it is a very intriguing, challenging, and is evolving all of the time,” she said. “I find it very enjoyable.”
As general manager, Blevins wears many hats, and she loves every minute of it.
“My job entails everything. I am a commercial sales agent, and I specialize in transportation. I supervise all of our employees if they have personal auto, home, and life insurance,” Blevins said. “I am into the technology bringing forth new technology, policies, procedures, claims ——you name it, when it comes to this industry I am a little bit involved with it all.”
Blevins supervises a total of seven employees at Glockner Insurance. She is a graduate of Wheelersburg High School, possesses a bachelor degree in Business Administration from Shawnee State University, and is a certified insurance counselor.
“I am married and have two children, and my husband has two children, so we are a blended family,” she said. “My husband is Brent Blevins and my daughters are Tori and Taylin Long, and husband’s children are Kyle and Malia Blevins.
At Glockner Insurance, their goal is to set themselves apart from other insurance agents.
“We find it very intriguing to educate our public. We try to set ourselves apart from the other agents, by educating people on exactly what they have, and spending time with them, and trying to find the best products to fit their needs,” she said.
