Saturday free movie night at Lett Terrace

For many years, outdoor movie viewing was a treat for families. Now the Portsmouth Metropolital Housing Authority and the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office are teaming up to bring outdoor movies back for a great summer family event.

The free movie night for residents of Lett Terrace will be this Saturday (June 25) at 8 p.m. behind the Lett Terrace main office building.

Todd Miller, Chief Deputy of the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, said folks are invited to bring a blanket and chairs for seating, and enjoy popcorn and drinks courtesy of PMHA. The movie being shown is Zootopia. Zootopia is a 2016 American 3D computer-animated buddy cop comedy adventure film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures.

“We have officers that work at Lett Terrace and Miller Manor several nights a month, and when the security director Paul Blaine told us about the movie night the Sheriff and I wanted to be involved in the project to help with the rental of the equipment,” Miller said. “PMHA supply’s all the snacks.”

Miller said another movie night will be held at Miller Manor on July 9.

“It is a great opportunity for our officers to interact with the children during the movie,” Miller said. “We must reach out as law enforcement to bond with the youth of today. We are always looking for a way to present a positive image of our office, and law enforcement in general, to the citizens of Scioto County.”

A date will be announced for Wayne Hills and Farley Square at a later date and the Portsmouth Police Department generally co-sponsors those events.
