Northend Community Choir to sing ‘oldies’

The Northend Community Choir (NCC) is gearing up for a gospel music concert set for Sunday, May 29, at 5 p.m. at Kingdom Builders Evangelistic Ministries (KBEM), Inc. 1629 Waller St., Portsmouth. The music will feature gospel ‘oldies’.

David Malone, pastor of KBEM, and choir director of the NCC, said Sunday’s concert transcends singing and is an opportunity for people to fellowship with one another.

This concert will offer the opportunity for fellowship and fellowship is important in that it fosters a stronger community,” Malone said. “We encourage everyone to come out to make a statement of their commitment to a stronger community.”

The choir will be singing gospel ‘throw-backs,’ or ‘oldies,’ if you will, in memory of Christians in the faith that have passed on.

“The choir will be singing ‘oldies,’ memorializing those faithful Christian warriors who have performed in the gospel music arena in an effort to bring happiness and wholeness to all people,” he said.

In acknowledgement of the Memorial Day holiday, NCC will also wear patriotic colors for the concert.
