PORTSMOUTH — Perhaps it was the blue skies and warm temperatures throughout the day that dictated to the constant stream of voters to the polls for the Ohio Primary Election on Tuesday.
There was a constant ebb and flow of voters going into the precinct to cast their votes during the course of the day, at the Friends Community Center located at 1202 18th Street in Portsmouth.
Evan Fisher of Portsmouth, said voting is a wonderful responsibility.
“Voting is a wonderful responsibility. We are very blessed to be able to do it. I am excited about voting, and just glad to be able to get out to vote,” Fisher said.
Voters coming into the precinct were met by volunteers at a table equipped with a small tablet which would allow the volunteers to give voters the number of the table to visit once inside of the actual voting area.
The eyes of Mabel Ruth Ison of Portsmouth filled with tears when she was asked about her reason for voting on Tuesday
“I always like to vote. I feel like people died to give us that right, and I get emotional,” Ison said.
