Valley lights up West

LUCASVILLE — The Valley Indians started the game on a 26-0 run Tuesday night. They never looked back, either. They would finish the game with a score of 79-45 and pick up the win against the West Senators.

West would score their first points with twenty seconds remaining in the first quarter, making the score 26-2 at the end of one. Valley hit six three point baskets in the quarter. West would manage a bit of the comeback in the second, however, outscoring the Indians 20-10 and cutting the lead to 14 going into the half.

The Senators started Tre Patrick in the second. He would go on to lead the team in scoring, accumulating 17 points. Valley was too strong, though, forcing 21 turnovers on the night and shooting at a high percentage. Bryan Rolfe would lead the game with 26 and Blake Howard had 15 on the night. Aaron Linne and Blake Brewer were also in double figures for Valley.

“We finally got back on track tonight,” said Valley Head Coach Scott Rolfe. “The last three games we have definitely struggled shooting the ball. Tonight, I thought it was one of our better defensive efforts. That’s what we have been talking about since our two losses. I think the three days off gave them more energy. They looked like they had more pep for sure.”

“It was good to see Bryan and Blake get back on track. Aaron Linne and everyone on the court did a nice job tonight. They are a very unselfish group out there. It’s a hard pill to swallow right now. There are only so many minutes this group gets to play together now. We have to cherish every moment. We’ve done this since second grade and it’s really starting to set in.”

“Every game isn’t going to be like tonight. But a lot of games can be similar if we focus. We still have a conference to win, too. Every night we have to go out and fight because we don’t have the luxury of dropping a game. We put ourselves in this position by losing to Minford. Each night we are going to fight hard, put pressure on the other team, and our team knows we have to win out. We are going to Oak Hill and all our focus is there right now. We also have a tough nonconference game against Adena who is a really good team on Saturday.”

Valley travels to Oak Hill to face to Oaks on Friday. Game time is 7:30.

West hosts the Northwest Mohawks Friday. Game time for that game is at 7:30.
