Detectives of the Portsmouth Police Department have arrested Charles “Allen” Blunk on charges stemming from an incident occurring on Saturday evening. Blunk has been charged with one count of aggravated robbery and one count of aggravated burglary, both felonies of the first degree.

On Saturday at about 4:45 p.m., Patrol Division Officers were called to the residence at 2103 Charles Street in the City’s east end. The victim reported he was returning home with his family and two small children when he observed a male exiting his home carrying two of the family’s televisions. A physical confrontation ensued and the homeowner was injured, but was able to ward off the intruder who was also injured in the struggle.

Patrol officers said, upon arrival, they were able to locate suspected blood evidence which they collected. Monday morning, detectives and patrol officers located Blunk at his residence and brought him to the Portsmouth Police Department for questioning.

Portsmouth Police Operations Captain Lynn Brewer said Blunk has given a confession to the crimes he is charged with and was taken to the Scioto County jail after being booked. He will be arraigned in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Tuesday morning.

Brewer said Blunk remains a person of interest in several other recent burglaries within the city of Portsmouth and those cases remain under investigation at this time.

Portsmouth Police ask that anyone with information that may be in connection with the investigation call the Police Department Detective Division at 740-354-1600 or the Police Department Dispatch line at 740-353-4101.
