Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said at around 11:39 p.m. Tuesday, a deputy assigned to the Washington Township area arrested Eric David Castle, 28, of Rarden, Ohio, and Patricia Ann Detty, 28, of Portsmouth, on charges of illegal manufacture of methamphetamine, a felony of the second degree, and illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of methamphetamine, a felony of the third degree.

Donini said the deputy responded to the complaint of a subject who was reportedly passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle on the parking lot of the Super Quick Convenient Mart located on Galena Pike in West Portsmouth, Ohio.

Upon investigating the complaint, with the assistance from a trooper from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Castle was identified as the subject in question. Detty was the lone passenger in the vehicle. As Castle exited the vehicle at officer’s request, he said assorted drug paraphernalia was observed. Donini said a further search of the interior of the vehicle resulted in the locating of a vessel containing an active one pot methamphetamine lab.

Detectives from the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force responded to process the scene and dismantle the lab.

Castle and Detty were transported to the Scioto County Jail and were scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

Donini said the case against Castle and Detty will be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office to be presented to a Scioto County grand jury.

Donini took the opportunity to thank the citizen he said filed the complaint and the Washington Township Fire Department for their assistance at the scene. Donini said anyone wishing to leave drug information for the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force to contact the Task Force tip line at 740-354-5656 or email [email protected]. All information will be kept confidential and anonymous.
