Saturday, July 25, 2015, marked the eighth year for ‘Dr. Murray’s FREE Day of Dentistry,’ held at Dr. Murray’s office located at 1010 Gallia St., in Portsmouth. Many people lined up to benefit from this non-profit event, where free dentistry is provided to members of the community who are devoid of dental insurance.
Over the years, Dr. Tracy Murray’s office has seen more than 800 patients and has contributed services valued at more than $250,000. Area businesses made monetary donations to help purchase dental supplies, and to feed more team of more than 200 volunteers and patients throughout the course of the event. A host of local area provided meals.
Dr. Tracy Murray said the annual FREE Day of Dentistry is his office is a way of giving back to the community.
“FREE Day of Dentistry is our day that we are able to give back to the community in the best way we know how; free dental care,” Murray said. “What makes this event so special is that it’s not just our office who gives back, it’s the entire community. “
Dr. Murray said it is a collaborative effort between his office, local businesses, and the community that makes the Free Day of Dentistry possible.
“We receive donations from many local businesses in whatever way they can help. It truly is great what can be accomplished when an entire community pulls together for a greater good,” he said. “In addition to our community pulling together, we are also joined by people outside of our immediate community. Dr. Hal Jeter DDS and his team travels from South Point, Ohio each year to volunteer while Dr. Andrew Mullendore OS and his team travels from Lancaster, Ohio to volunteer. We are truly blessed to belong to such supportive community.”
