Fueled by two double-doubles, the Waverly Lady Tigers defeated the Minford Lady Falcons, 68-63, Thursday evening in Waverly.
Laken Smith and Brittany Green helped Waverly gain a win over the Falcons, as both finished the night with double-doubles.
Smith, whom Waverly coach John Bonifield says continues to be the team’s leader on the floor, scored 24 points, and pulled down 12 rebounds.
“Her ability to score and read defenses allow us to be more efficient on offense,” Bonifield said.
Green had a spectacular night as well. Her magic number was 15 Thursday night, scoring 15 points, and claiming 15 total rebounds.
“Brittany played her best game and is a player who gives you everything she has all the time,” Bonifield said. “She has a good motor and will do whatever we ask of her.”
Green also had three assists in the contest.
“We came out and competed tonight,” Bonifield said. “It was fun to see us play with a lot of energy.”
Minford had two Lady Falcons finish the night with double figure scoring.
Erin Daniels continued to impress those who watch her play, as she put up 20 points for the Lady Falcons against the Lady Tigers.
Abbie Grasso contributed to the Minford cause, scoring 13 points.
Marissa Risner was electric for the Lady Falcons from the perimeter. She hit three of the five three-pointers for Minford on the night.
