PORTSMOUTH— Shawnee State University’s Vern Riffe Center for the Arts (VRCFA) welcomes MOIPEI to open the 2023-2024 Performing Arts Series on Thursday, Sept. 14. A musical tour de force set of triples, MOIPEI will perform in the Eloise Covert Smith Theater in the VRCFA starting at 7:30 p.m.

Natives of Nairobi, Kenya, this dynamic trio presents a program that is as unique as their talents, interpreting well-known selections ranging from the American Songbook, to dazzling and illuminating performances of new and old Broadway. Throw in a dash of Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman to swing, a flash of pop to provoke, then cash it all in with some gospel for salvation. Add a tradition Swahili children’s song to bring it all back home. The exceptional talents of these three sisters, with their incredible harmonies, blend their voices and these music genres to create an amazing, fulfilling and entertaining evening.

Tickets for MOIPEI are available online at www.vrcfa.com or at the McKinley Box Office in the VRCFA, Monday through Friday. Tickets can also be purchased via telephone call at (740) 351-3600. Ticket prices for the show are $39.00 for Standard, $36.00 for Seniors, and $25.00 for those 18 & under. Handicap accessible seating is available upon request.
