Chillicothe native, and Nashville Music Row favorite, Jerry Salley will be conducting a Songwriting Workshop on Saturday July 16, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Living with a Cause Theater, 8891 Ohio River Rd, in Wheelersburg.
The event is being sponsored by the Portsmouth, Ohio; Ashland, Kentucky Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) Regional Workshop, and Living With a Cause.
Established in 1967, The Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) is the world’s largest non-profit songwriters trade association. NSAI has over 5,000 active and professional members and 150-plus Regional Workshops that span the globe.
Salley took home several Grammy awards this year for writing Outlaw State of Mind, on Chris Stapleton’s Grammy-winning Traveler CD. He also received Grammy’s for three songs on the Steel Drivers Muscle Shoals Recordings. Salley also won the Dove Award, for His Strength Is Perfect, co-written with Steven Curtis Chapman.
Over 400 of Salley’s songs have been recorded by artists such as, Sir Elton John, Reba McEntire, Toby Keith, Cece Winans, Patty Loveless, Brad Paisley, Joe Nichols, Travis Tritt, Darryl Worley, Loretta Lynn, and numerous other nationally known country, bluegrass and gospel artists. ,
Salley will be answering questions, and critiquing attendee’s original songs. Attendees are encouraged to bring their song on CD along with three copies of the lyric sheets.
All ages and skill-levels are invited, as well as parents of younger aspiring artists and songwriters. There will be a charge at the door of $30 for non-NSAI members, and $20 for NSAI Members.
