Minford man, Troy Miller, arrested in burglary

The old adage – “you can’t run from the long arm of the law,” was proven once again over the weekend, when Troy Shane Miller, 39, of 3696 Glades Road, in Minford, tried to evade arrest by running on foot. He was caught a short time later.

Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said his office received a call Saturday, June 25, from a man at a residence located at 1531 Kinker Road, in Minford, stating that somebody had broken into his home and had stolen several items including jewelry, tools, appliances, computers and other household items.

According to the report, deputy Steven Woodyard responded to the location where a report was filed. Throughout his investigation, Woodyard said he was able to identify a possible suspect that resulted in most of the property being recovered.

Woodyard, along with other deputies, responded to 3696 Glades Road in Minford since it was reportedly the last known address of the suspect, Miller. Upon arrival, deputies said they heard tree branches breaking behind the residence. That’s when Woodyard said he went around back and observed the suspect on foot running up the hill into the woods. That resulted in Woodyard giving a chase on foot that resulted in Miller being detained without incident.

Miller is being held on a $75,000 bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday, June 27, 2016.

Anyone with information regarding the case can contact Woodyard at 740-354-7566. All calls will remain anonymous.
