loaded guns, $6,575 cash, 435 pills seized in arrest of Portsmouth man

New Boston Police say a Portsmouth man has been arrested with two loaded handguns, $6,575 cash and 435 oxymorphone/hydrochloride pills.

Christopher J. McIntosh, 47, of 2142 Royce St., is charged with receiving stolen property and carrying a concealed weapon.

On Thursday, June 2, at around 8:52 p.m., the New Boston Police Department received a call of a possible unresponsive male sitting in a vehicle on the CVS parking lot located within the 4200 block of Gallia Street. Sergeant Josh Carver and Officer Robert Deerfield responded to the scene where they said they observed a male sitting in the vehicle and upon approaching the the subject, officer Deerfield said they observed possible criminal indicators from the man and from within the vehicle. When McIntosh existed the vehicle, he reportedly attempted to flee from the scene on foot and after a short foot pursuit by Carver and Deerfield, officers were able to take McIntosh into custody.

Upon searching the vehicle and McIntosh, officers said they found two loaded handguns, one being a Sig 9 millimeter and the other being a Smith & Wesson 40-caliber handgun. The Sig 9 millimeter was entered in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as a stolen handgun out of Scioto County on March 13, 2016.

The Officers also seized 435 oxymorphone/hydrochloride, 30 milligram pills, a schedule II drug and seized $6,575 in cash. Also seized were other electronic devices such as cell phones, an IPAD and tablets.

McIntosh was transported to the Scioto County Jail on the weapons charges of receiving stolen property and carrying a concealed weapon. The drug charges will be presented to the Scioto County Prosecutor Office for grand jury proceedings where additional felony charges will be added to the case against McIntosh.
