Hill View enhances fitness facility with $36,000 equipment

Residents of Hill View Retirement Center in Portsmouth now have access to state of the art exercise equipment on the Center’s campus. The cost of the new equipment is $36,000.

Residents and staff of Hill View gathered in the fitness facility of the Center, listening intently to Brad Zieber, manager of performance training of SOMC, as he provided instruction of the use of the new exercise machines.

Zieber said assisting Hill View with selecting the new equipment for the fitness facility allowed them to carry to help the community stay active.

“I worked with John on coming up with equipment lists to help his residents to have state of the art equipment to keep them going, and to keep them active,” Zieber said. “With SOMC and Hill View we came up with a tremendous fitness facility that will help the residents of Hill View to stay active, and stay fit. It is always great to work with community. SOMC always strives to have a healthy community, and this was one more way that SOMC could help and keep the community moving.”

Bob Morton, a resident at Hill View, and member of the Resident Council at Hill View, said the funds came through the Resident Council of Hill View, and matching effort of the Hill View administration.

“The way that we raise money is through our vintage furniture, which is a shop where they sell the used goods. This where residents sell goods when they move in,” Morton said. “So we had money that we had built up through the years, so we had $18,000, and Hill View did the matching funds, and that is how we raised a total of $36,000, to purchase this new equipment.”

Angela Adams, outreach director at Hill View, said the enhanced fitness facility is something the residents will enjoy for many years.

“It is just a wonderful asset to add to all of our amenities here at Hill View,” Adams said. “It is state of the art equipment, and the residents are going to have something that they can enjoy for years to come.”

Residents will have access to the new exercise equipment 24 hours a day, seven days per week.
