RCW returns to Dogwood Festival

The Pike County Dogwood Festival offers a plethora of attractions to draw the attention and awe of those visiting the annual spring-time celebration. Music, food, and rides are just a small sample of things that make the oldest festival in Pike County a true and unique southern Ohio treasure. While many attendees will enjoy the sounds of various musical artists, hundreds will also enjoy the hard-hitting action of Revolutionary Championship Wrestling (RCW).

After a successful debut at the festival last year, administrators with the Pike County Dogwood Festival asked officials with RCW to come back for a second consecutive year.

On Friday night, April 22nd, at 6:00 p.m., RCW will once again entertain the masses at the Pike County Dogwood Festival.

RCW Owner, Dirk Extreme, has a full show planned for Friday night’s event, complete with an RCW Heavyweight Championship match between RCW Champion “Dangerous” Damien Kass against the challenger, and former champion, Tank Runyon.

The match between Kass and Runyon will be a rematch from the last RCW show, Physical Distortion, held in West Portsmouth, Ohio, which saw the champion retain his title with help from his wife, and valet, Naughtia.

Another match signed for the Dogwood Festival will be a tag-team match between the Hickey Boys and Daniel Winchester and Brandon Fields. The match-up will pit some of the best young talent in the company against one another, while also determining which team might have a strong argument at being named the number one contender for the RCW Tag-Team Championship.

One of the most anticipated matches already announced for the show is another tag-team match which will pit two former close friends against one another. The team of Trik Nasty and Otto will go toe-to-toe with Randy “The King” Allen and “The Black Superman” Onyx.

This match was announced earlier this month at the closing of Physical Distortion. Nasty and Onyx were former close friends according to Extreme, but after jealousy of being out of the RCW Championship running for an extended period of time, Nasty interfered in a championship match between Onyx and Kass, which saw Kass walk away as champion when Nasty knocked-out Onyx.

Also announced to appear will be RCW North American Champion Ron Mathis, along with RCW Tag-Team Champions “Party Boy” Jimmy Malloy, and Duke Beefhammer.

“I know we will have six matches, and potentially a seventh match,” Extreme said. “The crowd response from last year was so positive, we want to bring a first-class event again this year.”

The event is free to attend, but preferred seating is available, while space allows. Preferred seating will cost $5.00, and will guarantee a seat inside the tent.

Preferred seating tickets can be obtained at Domino’s Pizza and Castle Comics in Portsmouth, Ohio, as well as at the Piketon Government Center, located at 411 S. West Street, Piketon, Ohio, or by calling 740-289-3102.

RCW has been heavily involved in bringing action-packed, family-friendly professional wresting excitement to the southern Ohio area for nearly 14 years. After its first show in November of 2002, the locally owned and operated company has entertained thousands of fans at their live events, on their DVD home releases, and on their weekly television show, which can be viewed on The Zone, television channel 24 on Time Warner Cable, channel 23 on Minford TV, and channel 50 over the air.

“We’re much more organized than most independent wrestling organizations, and we’ve always given the best to our fans,” Extreme said. “We don’t just let anybody in the ring. Every member of our roster has gone through extensive and often times, grueling training, just to have an opportunity to be placed on a show. They all know their craft, and are true professionals.”

Extreme is proud his company provides a family-friendly product, which the whole family can enjoy.

“You don’t have to worry about what your kids will see at our shows,” Extreme said. “We love to entertain fans of all ages, from those in diapers, to those who have been wrestling fans for 60 or even 70 years. We always make sure to keep it family-friendly and do our best every fan goes home happy and wanting to come back for more.”

Bell-time for the show Friday evening has been set for 6:00 p.m.
