MINFORD- The Minford Falcons shut out the Oak Hill Oaks Friday evening and won by a score of 6-0.

Eric Cook pitched the shutout for Minford, giving up only four hits on the day.

“It was a great game by Eric,” said Minford Head Coach Brent Daniels. “He went out and threw strikes and pitched a complete game. That’s what we ask of him and he really stepped up.”

Defensively Minford was dominant. Michael Grasso made a diving catch in centerfield to save hit in the sixth inning, while the Falcons managed to turn a double play to end the game. They also had no errors on the day.

“Defensively we were on point,” said Daniels. “I can’t ask for much more than that.”

Kody Kennedy and Shawn Mersiel were both two for four with an RBI a piece. Jared Alley and Eli Daniels were both two for three with RBI’s.

The Falcons are now 9-2 (5-2) on the year. Coach Daniels is pleased at the team’s progress thus far.

“We are getting better each game, that’s for sure. We started off a bit shaky on defense early but we are coming along. The kids are really having fun and working hard right now.”

Minford travels to Valley on Monday and will host them on Wednesday.
