The Minford Falcons opened up their season Monday night on the road, as they played the Zane Trace Pioneers. Despite opening on the road, the Falcons were able to get their first win of the season on their first try, as they defeated the Pioneers 12-4.

Alex Powell pitched his way to a win Monday night. He gave up eights hits in his work. He showed great control during the game, surrendering no walks, and striking out six batters.

J. McCaleb was nearly perfect from the plate against the Pioneers, going 3-4, and obtaining three RBIs in the game.

Three other Falcons had notable batting performances. Ian Tolle drove in two runs in his 1-2 performance at the plate, while Eli Daniels and Jared Alley each drove in a run, as Daniels went 1-3, and Alley went 1-4.

Doles for the Pioneers will pick up the loss, as he gave up nine hits, and walked six Falcons.

Minford will host fellow SOC rival Waverly Wednesday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
