LUCASVILLE — The Pancakes With the Easter Bunny held at the Lucasville Masonic Lodge on Saturday, was also a heart-warming event to help out a family in need. Proceeds from the event went to the family of Kevin and Melissa Kennedy.

Kim Evans, Worthy Matron of Masonic Lodge of Lucasville, said they wanted to reach out and help the Kennedy family in any way that they could.

“We are having a charity pancake breakfast for the Kennedy family. They have run into several medical hardships this year, and we are doing what we can to help them through it,” Kim Evans said. “The Easter Bunny Pancake is an annual event, but this year we are donating the proceeds to the Kennedy family. We are just so glad to have the opportunity to help them.”

Dennis Evans, Worthy Patron of the Masonic Lodge said it is all about looking out for one another.

“This is what we are here for. We are trying to take care of each other, and to take care of others in the community, and this is one of the ways that we can help raise money,” Evans said. “We like to make pancakes, and people love to eat them.”

Melissa Kennedy shed a few tears as she expressed her gratitude for the efforts from the Masonic Lodge, family and friends.

“This is an amazing thing. We went through this with my husband. He had a liver transplant nine months ago, and the Lodge did this for him,” Melissa Kennedy said. “Just the amount of support that we have, all of the love and support from family and friends just really touches us. Just for people to come out and to do that for you, it really humbles you.”

The start of the event, the Easter Bunny was present, bringing laughter and smiles to the children who attended the breakfast.

The Lodge will be hosting their annual Car Show that will be held Memorial Day weekend. Details for this event and fundraiser are forthcoming.
