WHEELERSBURG — One adult and one juvenile have been arrested in the theft of two firearms.

Arrested were Joseph S. Cupp, 25, of Kittle Road in Wheelersburg, and a 15-year-old male, also of Kittle Road in Wheelersburg.

Both have been charged with breaking and entering a felony of the fifth degree and felony theft of a firearm a felony of the fourth degree.

Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said his detectives, while working on other cases, got information that a garage might have been broken into on Bussy Road in Wheelersburg.

During the investigation detectives contacted a possible victim who was not aware that he had been broken into, Donini said. Donini said he went home and checked and was able to confirm that his garage was broken into and that he had two firearms missing from inside.

A deputy responded to the location, which resulted in a report being filed and forwarded to a detective for a further investigation.

Donini said during the investigation both firearms were recovered and information was received that on Jan. 6, 2016, those subjects also broke into several vehicles on Bussy Road.

One adult male and a juvenile male were detained and questioned that resulted in both being charged.

Cupp is being held on a $7,500 bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Friday. The 15 year old male has charges pending through Juvenile Court.

Donini said anyone with any information concerning the break in should contact detective Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091. All calls will remain anonymous.
