Two people were injured Thursday in a crash on U.S. 23. Carma G. Howard, 31 of Piketon, was transported to Adena Pike Hospital by Medcare EMS for non-life threatening injuries while Crystal L. Fyffe, 34 of Waverly, was treated at the scene by Franklin Township EMS and released.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the Portsmouth Dispatch Center received a call at approximately 6:15 p.m. that a two vehicle injury crash had occurred on U.S. 23 at Alma-Omega Road in Ross County.

Troopers said a 2008 Dodge Nitro driven by Fyffe, failed to yield from a stop sign while turning southbound onto U.S. 23 from Alma-Omega Road. She was struck by a 1998 Dodge Neon driven by Howard. Fyffe’s vehicle was, according to the report, forced off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch.

Fyffe was treated for minor injuries and Howard was transported.

The OSHP said all motorist are encouraged to obey all traffic laws and look both ways before entering into an intersection.
