FLATWOODS, Ky. — Jingle Bell Walk/ Jog is ideal for shedding those extra calories accumulated during the Thanksgiving holiday. The Alliance For a Healthier Generation (AFAHG), will host the event on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. at the Advance Methodist Church, located at 1007 Bellefonte Road, in Flatwoods, Ky.

Patty Lane said of AFAHG, the Jingle Bell Walk/Jog is an opportunity for health and fun, without all of the added features.

“The Alliance for A Healthier Generation, which does childhood obesity work. We work with schools, and it’s all free of charge to schools,” Lane said. “We have been hosting a number of races on behalf of the New York City Marathon Chain that we had that was running, and we’ve done a lot of events between June and now, there is no charge for this one, just free fun. There are no awards, no t-shirts.”

Although timing will be available, the event is a wonderful fitness opportunity for children and their families. Volunteers for the Jingle Bell Walk will arrive at 1:30 p.m.

As stated by Lane, there is no registration to participate, but donations will be gladly accepted. Participants will receive bells for their shoes, and hot chocolate to warm you up after will be available.

Pre-registration encouraged, but is not required, and bells will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

She is hopeful that the community will take advantage of the fitness opportunity, and bring the whole family. All race proceeds will go towards the prevention of childhood obesity.
