The Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says no serious injuries resulted to those involved in a crash on Ohio 104 at Ohio 348, a crash at 5:13 a.m. Tuesday that resulted in the closure of that highway.

A dispatcher at the Portsmouth Dispatch Center said a pickup truck, driven by William Timberlake, 50, of West Portsmouth, struck a power pole, bringing that pole down, and that a semi then got tangled in the electrical wires.

Trooper David Richendollar told the Daily Times, the semi was not actually involved in the crash, just the wires downed by the pickup. The semi suffered no damage.

He said Timberlake was northbound on Ohio 104 and that he fell asleep ran off the right side of the road and hit a utility pole.

Timberlake was taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The Ohio Department of Transportation announced the roadway was open, late Tuesday morning.
