Whether you’re planning on traveling to Ohio Stadium to watch the Buckeyes and the Nittany Lions battle it out or have a few friends over for that early fall cookout to close out the grilling season, you might want to take an extra jacket and maybe a blanket or two along. A large Canadian high pressure system will build southeast into the region becoming centered over the Ohio Valley on Sunday. That high will offer dry weather and widespread frost or possibly freezing temperatures this weekend.

According to the United States Weather Service a frost advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday and a freeze watch is in effect from late Saturday night through Sunday morning.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington reports temperatures will be in the lower and middle 30s Friday night and in the upper 20s to low 30s on Sunday morning.

What impacts will the front bring? Sensitive plants left outdoors and unprotected may be damaged or killed if not protected. Remember, a freeze watch means temperatures at or below 32 degrees fahrenheit are possible in and close to the watch area.

The Weather Channel is reporting the overnight low of Friday into Saturday to be around 37 and clear with a zero chance of precipitation and winds from the west-north-west at 4 miles per hour. Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high of 55, no precipitation and winds out of the northwest at 9 miles per hour.
