October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital’s (OLBH) breast cancer support group will meet Tuesday, Oct. 27, at noon in the Diabetes Education Classroom, at Bellefonte Centre, 1000 Ashland Drive, in Russell, Ky. Dietetic intern Whitney Carney will be the featured speaker, and will discuss the topic of herbs and spices and their effects on nutrition and health.

Kevin Compton, Bon Secours Kentucky Health System Communications & Advocacy Specialist, said the two cancer-related events are an ideal way for breast cancer patients and members of their families to get connected to the programming that OLBH offers.

“Our breast cancer support group and the Look Good…Feel Good meeting take place monthly at OLBH, but there is never a better time for breast cancer patients and their family members to become involved with these programs than October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” Compton said.

The OLBH Women’s Center will host its Look Good…Feel Better meeting Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. in Diabetes Education Classroom at Bellefonte Centre. Look Good…Feel Better assists women with coping with the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment by offering tips for enhancing looks and boosting self-images.

To register for either the breast cancer support group or Look Good…Feel Better, call the OLBH CareLine at (606) 833-CARE (2273) or register online at olbh.com.
