RUSSELL, Ky. — Oct. 8, 2015, is National Depression Screening Day and the Bon Secours Health System, in light of this fact, will offer free screenings for depression. Screenings will be offered at both the Bellefonte Primary Care in Grayson and on the campus of Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital (OLBH) at the Bellefonte Behavioral Health Center in Russell, Ky.

According to OLBH, Depression screenings consist of a questionnaire and interview with a mental health nurse or therapist. Kevin Compton, Bon Secours Kentucky Health System Communications & Advocacy Specialist, said they are very happy about offering the Depression Screenings.

“Depression can be a very serious medical issue made all the more so by how often it goes undiagnosed,” Compton said. “We’re happy to be able to provide the community the opportunity to have these free screenings in hopes that we can assist residents in catching anything that could lead to a positive outcome in their health and well-being.”

Appointments for the screenings can be made by calling the OLBH CareLine at 606-833-CARE (2273). Appointments are available for the Thursday, Oct. 8 screenings in Grayson from 9 a.m. until noon and on the OLBH campus from 2 to 4 p.m. Walk-ins will be accepted that day at the Bellefonte Primary Care in Grayson from 9 to 11 a.m. and at the Bellefonte Behavioral Health Center from 5 to 7 p.m.
