With just one match remaining, Wheelersburg’s Mitchell McFarland has taken a commanding lead in the race for SOC II Player of the Year.
McFarland shot a two-under-par 34 on Thursday evening at Little Scioto Golf Course in Wheelersburg to extend his lead as the conference’s top golfer to 10 strokes.
West’s Jordan Tieman, who currently sits in second place, finished Thursday’s round with a 40.
McFarland is shooting for a four-year sweep as the SOC II’s best golfer.
The Waverly Tigers also extended their lead on the team leaderboard on Thursday, as they shot a combined score of 160. They out-shot last season’s SOC II champions, West, by 21 strokes to extend their lead to a dominant 35 strokes.
The final SOC II match of the year will take place next week at The Elks Country Club.
