RUSSELL, Ky. — Welcome to Henry R. Evans Stadium where the Greenup Musketeers and the Russell Red Devils are prepared to square off at 7:30 p.m. Here are few last minutes notes:

Last meeting

Greenup County pushed Russell to the brink last season before falling at home 15-12 to the Red Devils.

Home-field advantage

Greenup County has never traveled to Henry R. Evans Stadium and departed victorious. Will Saturday be the historic win the Musketeers have long waited for?

Defense makes history?

The domination Russell has exhibited over Greenup County at Henry R. Evans Stadium as been well documented. However, the last time the Musketeers played the Red Devils on the road, Russell squeaked away with a 14-8 victory. Greenup County has put together one of the stingiest defenses in the area and has relied heavily on its ability to shutdown opposing offenses over the past couple of seasons — as recently as a week ago when the unit allowed a negative six yards rushing in a shutout victory over Lewis County. Last year, Russell only managed to put 15 points on the board in the narrow three point win at Musketeer Stadium. Will the defense give the Red Devils fits for a third straight time?

Quote of the day

Musketeers coach Chris Mullins on ending Russell’s home-field dominance over Greenup County.

“I think if you have a signature win like that, especially early in the season, it can propel your team into some unforeseen heights. Our slogan all week as been ‘lets make history.’ We certainly have the talent to do so. It’s not going to be given to us. They have a great team, great coaching staff at Russell. It’ll be a great game and hopefully we can make history.“
