Carlton Joseph LaBrown McClure, 18, of Portsmouth, has been indicted for rape, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of gross sexual imposition, by the Scioto County grand jury.

“The allegation is that this occurred between April 26 and April 27 of 2012,” Scioto County Prosecutor Mark Kuhn said. “We have another case pending on him because he was indicted earlier this year on gross sexual imposition and attempted gross sexual imposition involving an incident on July 4 of this year at Farley Square.”

Kuhn said DNA was sent to the BCI&I laboratory and the police department received a Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) hit recently which led them to re-open their investigation of the 2012 case.

The latest indictment stems from the 2012 case while the earlier indictment dealt with the July case from this year.

Kuhn said McClure remains incarcerated in the Scioto County Jail where he was incarcerated in July of this year. In the new case, McClure will be set for arraignment before Judge William T. Marshall and the case will be set for a pretrial.

“The judge will set a bond,” Kuhn said. “Bond was already set on the earlier case.”

Portsmouth Police detective sergeant Jim Charles is the lead investigator in the case.
