GREENUP, Ky. — The first Greenup County Democratic Woman’s Club (GCDWC) meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, 6:30 p.m. in the fiscal courtroom of the Greenup County Courthouse, in Greenup, Ky. Special speakers will be Judge Bobby Carpenter, and Allen Reed.

Nancy Stewart, took the initiative to reestablish the GCDWC, and said they currently have 13 members.

“We are looking forward to having Bobby Carpenter as our special guest speaker. I am currently serving as the president,” said “We had a Women’s Club but, it went out about five years ago. So I made up my mind in April to go through with it, and so far I have 13 members, which I think is pretty good, when I just opened the club in April, and we haven’t even had our first meeting.”

She said the GCDWC was officially re-established on April 16, 2015. The meetings will be held the second Tuesday of each month at the same location in the Greenup County Courthouse.

Carpenter, one of the speakers for the upcoming meeting, said he is looking sharing important information at the meeting.

“What will talk with the group about what we are doing here, and how we are trying to help Jeff Conway in the fall, and all of the Democrats that are running on the statewide ticket,” Carpenter said. “We are just going to talk about how we can try to get everybody out to vote this last election, hardly anybody voted, so that is the main thing that I will talking about. We will also discuss the upcoming fair, and the Old Fashion Days, and work on trying to get everybody lined up for both of those events.”

Stewart said she is anticipating continued growth of the GCDWC, and desires that each member feels valued and comfortable.

“I am really excited about it, and I want all of the members to feel important, I want them to feel comfortable, and hopefully the membership will keep building up,”she said. “You know, when you open up a new club it takes a while to get it established.”Usually the Women’s Clubs work hard on the elections. We usually work pretty hard, and spend a lot of time campaigning, and working, and doing fundraisers, so we have always been a key part in making a difference.”
