The Waverly Post 142 baseball team extended its winning streak to six on Tuesday with a 10-1 win over Hillsboro Post 129 in Waverly.

The Shockers broke the game open with a four-run third inning, thanks to a double by Dylan Shockley and RBI hits from Jared Alley and Shane Spriggs. Waverly then put the game out of reach in the fourth, as Alley smacked a three-run homer to extend the lead to 9-1.

Alley, a rising senior at Minford, went 3-for-3 in Tuesday’s game with a double and two runs in addition to his homer. The Shockers’ first baseman drove in four of the teams’ 10 runs.

Oak Hill’s Shane Spriggs picked up the win on the mound for the Shockers. He pitched five innings, allowing just a single earned run and two hits. Spriggs also struck out five batters.

Waverly Post 142 will visit Circleville Post 134 on Wednesday before taking part in the Hillsboro Wood Bat Tournament over the weekend.
