The Oak Dining Room of Hill View Retirement Center was refreshed with the Spring Fashion Show held on Wednesday. Angela Adams, outreach director at Hill View, said they are ecstatic about the turn out for the event. With a seating capacity of 170, the dining room was completely full.

“We are extremely pleased with the number of people who attended the event,” Adams said. “We put the information out there into the community, and with our residents inviting their friends that live in the community, it just makes for a fabulous attendance.”

In addition to the residents and advertising efforts, Adams attributes the success of the Spring Fashion Show to the staff and retailer support.

“The success of the event was based upon the incredible amount of support that we had from the kitchen staff, and to be able to host it in this beautiful dining room, and to capture the ambiance of the dining room. It has been nice to be able serve food, and refreshments, the staff is just a fabulous group of people,” she said.”Our retailers from Ashland, Ky Kandy Stewart, store manager at Christopher & Banks, Sandy Boggs, of Elder-Beerman, have just been wonderful, I could not have done this without them either.”

She said the show attendees thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

“This is an opportunity for our residents and others to come with their friends, and come here to the Hill View property which is absolutely gorgeous, and to be able to see the latest fashions from our retailers,” she said. “Everyone who came seemed to enjoy themselves.”

Twenty individual runway models participated in the Spring Fashion Show, composed of residents and members of the local community.

The Elder-Beerman models included: Alfred Banister, Juanita Elliot, James Kricker, Dollie McBrayer, June McCall, Betty Morgan, Dan Poole, Diane Preston, Frankie Rockwell, Mary Showalter, Elmer Smith, and Eva Wolery.

Christopher & Banks models included: Scottie Crabtree, Doris Herdman, Wyvetta Hicks, FoxEtta Hunt, Betty Kuhn, Genny Laninga, Bev Marshall, and Helen Servey.

“Some are residents, some are members of the community who love to volunteer, and be a part of their community,” she said. “It has just been a group effort, everybody pulling together to make this a success,” she said.

She said the likelihood of hosting another Spring Fashion Show is very possible.

“It has been such a success that we will just look at that from year to year, but we will probably make it an annual event, since it brought in so many folks,” she said.
