MINFORD — Five Lady Mohawks had a multi-hit day during Northwest’s 12-1 road win over Minford in SOC II softball play on Monday.

Northwest’s bats allowed the Lady Mohawks to score each inning — combining for 14 hits in the five-inning contest.

“It was a good win for us tonight, our girls showed up to play,” Northwest coach Chad Hawes said, after the win. “We hit the ball well, especially the middle of our lineup.”

Freshman Mollyann Runyon drove in sophomore Jeanette Mustain to put Northwest on the scoreboard in the top of the first.

Senior Alison Throckmorton then hit an RBI-double to score sophomore Lauren Redoutey, and give the Lady Mohawks a 2-0 lead they wouldn’t look back from.

Minford got a run back in the home half of the first when sophomore Kaylee Essman drove in sophomore Miranda Johnson with an RBI-double.

Johnson reached base with a leadoff single in the first.

For the final four innings, Redoutey gave up no hits to then Lady Falcon batters — earning the win in the circle with a two-hit outing.

“Lauren threw a great game for us tonight,” Hawes said. “She’s getting stronger with every outing. Our defense played well behind her and made some nice plays.”

Runyon drove in a season-high six RBI on a 4-of-4 day at the plate from the 3-hole position in Northwest’s lineup.

Throckmorton finished with three RBI on a pair of hits.

Senior Haley Hawes drove in a Northwest run in its four-run second as part of her three-hit day.

Mustain and junior Alyssa Ferguson both had a pair of hits in the win.

“Mollyann’s seeing the ball really well right now, especially as a freshman. Alison Throckmorton, Haley Hawes, Jeannette Mustain, Madison Puckett added five RBIs and did a great job at the plate.

Northwest (3-4, 3-1 SOC II) will host Oak Hill on Wednesday in SOC II play, while Minford (2-3, 2-2 SOC II) hosts South Webster on Wednesday in SOC II play.
