Panthers slash Indians, 13-3

The Clay Lady Panthers defeated their SOC I rival, the Western Lady Indians, Wednesday evening. Clay earned a mercy-rule win over Western, 13-3, after six innings.

Hannah Oliver got the win for Clay, as she was the pitcher of record for the Lady Panthers. She threw all six innings, allowing three runs, all unearned, five hits and three walks. Oliver also earned eight punch-outs, as she struck out eight Western batters.

Four Clay batters finished the night with two hits, Jensen Warnock, Tressa Carter, Rachel Cooper, and Shaelyn Vassar. Warnock went 2-4 from the plate with a double, 3 RBIs, and scored a run. Carter was also 2-4, driving in five runs, one home-run, and scored twice. Cooper had a triple in her 2-3 performance, and also scored twice. Vassar had two hits with four at-bats, scoring twice, and hitting a double.

After the win, the Lady Panthers improve their overall record to 8-3, with a perfect 5-0 conference record.

The two SOC I foes will face-off again on Friday evening in Latham, Ohio. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.
