Dani Coleman’s Portsmouth West Lady Senators walked away Wednesday with a conference win over their SOC II foe the Northwest Lady Mohawks.
After surrendering a run in the top of the first inning, the Senators went on to blockade home plate, refusing to allow another run to score. As West scored in four separate innings, the Lady Senators would go on to enjoy a 6-1 victory over the Lady Mohawks.
Taylor Coleman pitched a complete game Wednesday evening, getting the win. She gave up six hits, one run, earned, and a walk. She also struck out five Northwest batters during the game.
West had four hitters with two hits, Throckmorton, Mayberry, White, and Tatman.
Mayberry went 2-4, knocking in three runs, and scored once. Tatman was 2-3 at the plate, and drove in a pair of runs. Throckmorton scored once while going 2-4 on the night, while White had a pair of base hits and reached home twice.
Northwest’s Tackett put in six innings of work against the Senators. She gave up 10 hits, six runs, five earned, and one walk. She also had three strikeouts in the loss.
Hall led the Mohawks with three hits Wednesday and scored their only run of the game.
The two teams will meet each other again on Friday, at Northwest High School. Game time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
