Lady Titans shutout New Boston in SOC I play

PORTSMOUTH — The Notre Dame Lady Titans earned another Southern Ohio Conference Division I win on Monday, besting visiting New Boston 17-0 in five innings.

The Lady Titans scored a season-best 12 first inning runs and capitalized off of eight New Boston errors in their most recent victory.

With the win, ND improves to 8-0 (4-0 SOC I), while New Boston falls to 0-2 (0-2 SOC I).

Eight different Lady Titans had a hit, including Annie Dettwiller, Gwen Sparks, and Madison Brown who each had a pair of hits.

Claire Dettwiller, Ava Hassel, Isabel Cassidy, Kaylor Pickelsimer, and Maddy Suter had one hit apiece as part of ND’s 11 hits as a team.

Annie Dettwiller and Pickelsimer hit back to back home runs in the bottom of the 1st which gave the Lady Titans their 10th, 11th, and 12th runs of the inning.

Dettwiller hit her second homer in the bottom of the 3rd — another solo shot that pushed ND ahead 13-0.

Notre Dame’s Gwen Sparks and Kyndall Ford combined to pitch five innings in the win, allowing just one hit, no walks, and striking out 10 Lady Tigers batters.

New Boston sophomore Dylan O’Rourke had the Lady Tigers lone hit — a leadoff single in the top of the 2nd. Freshman Cassie Williams was the Lady Tigers’ pitcher who was credited with the loss on the mound.
