PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – For the fifth time this season seventh time in her career, Shawnee State women’s basketball player Ali Zieverink has been named the Mid-South Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday afternoon.

The West Chester, Ohio native led the Bears during the week with a pair of double-doubles, as the senior scored 27 and grabbed 13 rebounds in an 87-63 defeat at the hands of the No. 1 team in NCAA Division III – who sport a 56-game win streak – Thomas More College on Tuesday.

On Saturday, Zieverink and company got back on track, taking down Kentucky Christian, 64-59, in the final home game of the season. Zieverink scored 32 points on 10-of-16 shooting and connected on 12 free throws, notching her sixth 30-plus point game this season.

Zieverink continues to lead the NAIA Division I in scoring, registering 23.03 points per game, and ranks second in field goal percentage, connecting at a clip of 61.2 percent.

Fresh of clinching outright possession of the Mid-South Conference regular-season championship title, Zieverink and Shawnee State are back in action this week for the final time in regular season play, traveling to Georgetown College at the Davis-Reid Alumni Gym on Thursday. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
