Oak Hill 54, Valley 39

LUCASVILLE — Both the Valley Lady Indians and Oak Hill Lady Oaks indeed scored in consistent fashion for Monday’s Southern Ohio Conference Division II girls basketball bout.

Unfortunately for the Lady Indians, they only had a pair of nine-point opening quarters — and thus trailed the visiting Lady Oaks 29-18 at halftime en route to a 54-39 loss, as Oak Hill has the season sweep.

The win raised Oak Hill’s record to 10-7, and to 8-5 in the SOC II.

Oak Hill held a 14-9 advantage at the opening stop, then outscored the Lady Indians in the second stanza 15-9 —before upping the edge to 41-28 following three frames.

The loss left the Lady Indians with marks of 2-11 and 1-11.

Savannah Easter and Haley Whitt, with 10 points apiece, paced Valley — as Easter amounted four field goals including a first-quarter three-pointer and a split of third-quarter free throws.

Whitt was 6-of-10 from the free-throw stripe, in addition to two field goals.

Lucie Ashkettle netted nine points on two buckets and 3-of-5 foul shots, while Lexie Morrow mustered seven points on a third-quarter deuce, a fourth-quarter trey and a pair of second-canto free throws.

Madison Montgomery, on a fourth-period basket and a split of third-frame foul shots, finished with three.

The Lady Indians didn’t help themselves by making only 10 of 21 free throws, as Oak Hill hit seven of its nine tries.

Three Lady Oaks amassed double figures —spearheaded by Chloe Chambers chalking up 15 points on seven field goals and a split of fourth-quarter freebies.

Baylee Howell had a three-point basket in each period towards 14 points, while Olivia Clarkson canned the other Oak Hill trifecta —as part of her dozen-point performance.

Clarkson was 3-of-4 from the line in the opening quarter, then scored three two-point hoops in the second.

Oak Hill hosts Eastern on Wednesday with an SOC II makeup matchup at 6 p.m., while Valley visits Waverly on Thursday night for another divisional encounter.

Paint Valley 56, New Boston 31

NEW BOSTON — The New Boston Lady Tigers, stepping out of scrambled Southern Ohio Conference Division I action on Monday, lost 56-31 to the visiting Paint Valley Lady Bearcats inside Homer Pellegrinon Gymnasium.

Paint Valley, of the competitive Scioto Valley Conference, came a distance to pick up the win —leading 17-4 after the first quarter, 29-13 at halftime and 41-24 following three frames.

The loss left the Lady Tigers at 7-9, while the Bearcats climbed to 13-7.

Kenzie Whitley, with a dozen counters, paced the Lady Tigers as the only of the “Fab Five” in double figures.

Cassie Williams was next with seven points, as Shelby Easter, Cadence Williams and Dylan O’Rourke registered four points apiece.

New Boston’s SOC I makeup matchup at Green, scheduled for Wednesday, is postponed.
