SOUTH WEBSTER — South Webster trailed defending league runner-up Waverly by just five points after the second and third quarters.

However, the Tigers made their largest margins up in the first and fourth en route to a 62-50 win over the host Jeeps — improving their start to 2-0 with two road wins over Southern Ohio Conference Division II opponents.

Waverly junior Trey Robertson scored a game-high 25 points on seven made field goals and 9-of-10 shooting at the foul line.

Will Futhey added 14 for the Tigers on seven made field goals of his own.

Robertson knocked down two of Waverly’s three threes, while Gage Wheeler connected on the other as part of his seven points.

South Webster was led in scoring by junior Trae Zimmerman, who had a team-high 17 points on eight made field goals and 1-of-2 free-throw shooting.

Fellow junior Cam Carpenter made half of the Jeeps’ six three-point goals, contributing to his 10-point effort.

Connor Bender, Jaren Lower and Will Collins each added six points apiece for SW, while Brady Blizzard scored five.

The Jeeps fell to 2-2 (0-2 SOC II) with the loss, and will travel to Minford on Friday (Dec. 11) for another SOC II battle against the Falcons.

Waverly will host Minford on Tuesday (Dec. 15) in its league home opener.

Notre Dame 72, Symmes Valley 65

WILLOW WOOD — Notre Dame traveled well on Tuesday, earning a mid-week seven-point 72-65 road win over the Symmes Valley Vikings in Southern Ohio Conference Division I play.

Leading by one point (47-46) heading into the fourth, the Titans scored 25 points in the game’s final period —sealing the win and winning their league opener.

ND junior Jermaine Powell led all scorers with 26 points — coming on six made field goals (five threes) and 9-of-11 foul shooting.

In fact, half of Powell’s 26 came in the fourth — when the Titans expanded their lead to the game’s final margin.

Each Titan who saw the floor in the win winded up in the scoring column, including Jonathan Strickland who had 18 and Dylan Seison who scored 10.

Strickland scored 14 of the Titans’ 15 first-quarter points, mirroring Powell’s effort in the fourth.

Dominic Sparks added seven on two makes, and Jackson Clark scored six.

Ethan Kammer scored three in the win, while Carter Campbell and Caleb Nichols each added one.

Symmes Valley’s Luke Leith scored a team-high 24 points, as Notre Dame held the Vikings to just one three-point make for the entire contest.
