SOUTH WEBSTER — The Waverly Lady Tigers outscored the South Webster Lady Jeeps 43-30 over the final three quarters of Wednesday’s Southern Ohio Conference Division II makeup contest.
Despite trailing the Lady Jeeps 20-13 after one quarter, the Lady Tigers managed a 56-50 result for their first triumph in both teams’ second league game of the young 2020-21 season.
The Lady Tigers are now 1-1 both ways, while South Webster falls to 1-2.
Waverly had four scorers in double figures in its road win, led by Paige Carter’s game-high 18 points and five rebounds.
Kelli Stewart and Carli Knight added 12 and 10 points, respectively, on five made field goals apiece.
Zoiee Smith totaled 11 points, nine assists and six steals in the six-point victory.
South Webster placed three scorers in double figures — with Bri Claxon’s team-high 16 leading the charge.
Claxon’s 16 came on six made field goals — four two-point tries and a pair of threes, each coming in the first half of play.
Junior Faith Maloney added 12 points on six made field goals, eight coming in the first quarter when the Lady Jeeps took their early lead.
Freshman Bella Claxon added 10 points on four made field goals, as Skylar Zimmerman finished with eight and Liz Shupert had four.
The Lady Jeeps’ next scheduled contest is set for Saturday, Dec. 12 — with a road trip to face fellow Division IV team Trimble.
South Webster’s SOC II home game against Minford on Thursday night was postponed.
Waverly will host Jackson on Saturday (Dec. 5) in its first non-league contest of the season.
