MONDAY, AUGUST 31 — Fall Scoreboard

Volleyball

Northwest 3, Waverly 0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-15)

WAVERLY — Northwest claimed a Southern Ohio Conference Division II road win at Waverly on Tuesday to improve to 4-0 to start the 2020 regular season.

In their straight-set sweep of the Lady Tigers, the Lady Mohawks were led by Haidyn Wamsley, who had a team-high 12 kills, and Reagan Lewis — who had a team-high 25 assists.

Audrey Knittel had five kills, Valerie Copas had four, Ava Jenkins had three and Kloe Montgomery had two as well for the Lady Mohawks.

Terah Webb had four digs and Lydia Emmons had two and a service reception.

Northwest will host Minford on Tuesday before traveling to Valley on Thursday in league play.

Minford 3, Oak Hill 0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-15)

MINFORD — Minford earned a home straight-set sweep of visiting Oak Hill on Monday as the Lady Falcons improved to 3-1 this season.

Ally Coriell led the Lady Falcons with a team-high 16 kills, followed by McKenna Higbee’s six kills.

Senior setter Livi Shonkwiler had a team-high 23 assists and seven service aces in the win.

Minford will travel to Northwest on Tuesday for another SOC II match.

New Boston 3, Wellston 1 (25-22, 16-25, 25-10, 25-17)

NEW BOSTON — The New Boston Lady Tigers improved to 2-2 on the season with their four-set home win over visiting Wellston on Monday.

Shelby Easter had a team-high 10 kills and three blocks for the Lady Tigers.

Kenzie Whitley was strong at the service line for New Boston, totalling seven aces to lead her team.

Cadence Williams had four kills and five digs, Dylan O’Rourke had four kills and five digs, and Jadelyn Lawson had six assists in the win.

New Boston begins its Southern Ohio Conference Division I schedule on Tuesday when it hosts Symmes Valley.

Symmes Valley 3, Rock Hill 0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-10)

Huntington 3, Western 0 (25-9, 25-10, 25-12)

Boys Soccer

Minford 3, South Point 2

SOUTH POINT — The Minford Falcons were outshot 7-6 by the South Point Pointers, but the Falcons did edge the Pointers on the scoreboard in Monday’s non-league match, 3-2.

Zane Miller led the Falcons in their first win and game of the season, scoring a team-high two goals while Adam Crank notched one goal for Minford.

Skyler Knore and Sam Tieman each accounted for an assist in the Falcons’ opener.

The Falcons will begin their league schedule on Thursday as they host West, before traveling to Northwest on Saturday and an SOC II makeup game.
