Jeeps down Tartans 70-63

Shane Zimmerman scored a game-high 39 points as the South Webster Jeeps upended the East Tartans 70-63 Tuesday night.

While Zimmer stole the show with his scoring prowess, which included six made 3-pointers, Jeeps head coach Ryan Fenton was more impressed by his junior guard’s command on the floor.

“(He) was a terrific leader the entire game,” Fenton said. “Not just scoring points, as he was great there, but motivating his teammates and doing exactly what we ask him to do. When he locks in like that, he’s undoubtedly one of the best players in the league.”

While South Webster lead the majority of the evening, East rebounded to take a slime one-point lead in the fourth before the Jeeps salted the game away.

“Overall it was a great effort from our kids,” Fenton said. ” … Our kids never gave up. They kept stepping up and scoring when needed, as well as getting stops when needed. The effort from our kids was terrific.”

South Webster’s only senior Nate Hadinger scored 11 points.

“He was physical all night and gave us everything he had,” Fenton said.

East was led by Akia Brown and Blaine Scott who scored 25 and 18 points respectively.

South Webster returns to the hardwood Friday as the Jeeps travel to Friday.
