PORTSMOUTH — In a release by Southern Ohio Conference Secretary Treasurer Dave Stamm, the league announced that the 2020 SOC All-Star Game would be postponed to a TBD date after Governor Mike DeWine’s directive on Tuesday to limit mass-crowds of over 1,000 people to help prevent spread of the coronavirus.
“Due to the directives of the Commissioner of the OHSAA – Mr. Jerry Snodgrass – we will be forced to postpone the basketball All-Star game,” Stamm said in the release. “The game will be held at a later date and I will send it to you when we decide. We think it is important to honor our all-league players and champions in basketball and we have the game at a later date.”
The game was originally scheduled to be played Tuesday, March 17th with the girls All-Star game beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The action follows the announcement from the OHSAA on Tuesday that the 2020 girls basketball state tournament and 2020 boys basketball regional tournaments are to be played with limited spectators.
