In the third game of the Wendy’s Classic at Portsmouth High School, the Notre Dame Titans defeated the Northwest Mohawks 48-28. The Saturday evening game showcased a Southern Ohio Conference (SOC) divisional showdown, as the Titans, representing SOC Division I earned a 20 point victory over the Mohawks, who represented the SOC Division II.
Notre Dame’s Hattachai Buttayotee was the high scorer for all players on the court, as he finished with 21 points on the night. His nine two-point field goals, and shooting three for five from the free throw line, propelled Buttayotee to the game’s highest scorer.
Trevon Turner had a great night for the Titans as well, ending up with 16 points. Turner would hit two three-pointers for Notre Dame, the only field goals from behind the arc for the Titans during the game.
In the loss, the Mohawks were led by Kylie Leslie. Leslie put up 13 points for Northwest, and was the only Mohawk to reach double figures Saturday evening.
Dustin Taylor added seven points to the Mohawk cause, the second highest scorer for Northwest on the night.
The Titans will host Coal Grove Saturday evening. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
Northwest plays again Tuesday evening at home against the Jackson Ironmen. That game will tip at 7:30 p.m.
