LUCASVILLE – Behind season-highs from seniors Taylor Schmidt and Cassie Schaefer, the Notre Dame Lady Titans bounced-back following their first loss of the season with a 65-39 road win over the Valley Lady Indians.

After a slow start in which the Lady Titans didn’t manage a field goal until the 2:32 mark of the first quarter, Notre Dame took control of momentum and the scoreboard in Monday’s 26-point road win over Valley.

Schmidt would score a game-high 20 points while Schaefer scored 18 with both making four threes apiece by game’s end. Schaefer sank three of her four threes during the first half in which the senior led all scorers with 11.

After sinking a three in the first quarter, Schmidt connected on three third quarter triples and four two-point field goals en route to her game-high 20.

Valley was led by Karsyn Conaway’s team-high 14 points. The Lady Indian senior was sidelined for the final portion of the first half following a second quarter injury. After halftime, Conaway returned and netted three threes which added to her five first half points prior to her being sidelined.

Valley senior Bre Call scored her 1,000th point in Monday’s loss, becoming just the eighth Lady Indian in program history to achieve the feat.

Monday’s win for the Lady Titans comes just two days after they surrendered an 18-point first half lead in a 64-57 loss to Spring Valley (W. Va.), their first of the season.

Valley will host Eastern on Thursday in hopes of sweeping the season-series versus the Lady Eagles after their 68-48 win on December 20th.

Notre Dame will host East on Thursday as the Lady Titans can clinch at-least a share of the SOC I regular season crown with a win.
