Trojans earn third straight W, down Fairland

Staff Report

PROCTORVILLE – The Portsmouth Trojans rattled off their third straight victory of the 2019 season with a 20-12 road win over OVC rival Fairland.

It wouldn’t be until the fourth quarter that the Trojans ultimately took their lead over the Dragons, but 14 points scored in the final frame by Bruce Kalb’s squad was the deciding factor in Friday’s win.

All three of the Trojans touchdowns came on the ground thanks to the explosiveness of senior running back Talyn Parker.

In total, Parker toted the ball 17 times for a game-high 177 yards in addition to his three rushing scores.

Fairland was led in their ground attack by Michael Stitt who finished with 16 carries for 50 yards and one rushing score.

Portsmouth (7-1) will prepare to host South Point in week nine while Fairland travels to face Coal Grove.
