RUBYVILLE – In a Division IV sectional final hosted by Clay, the Panthers defeated Manchester in four sets (25-11, 14-25, 25-17, 25-21) to claim a sectional title and advance to next week’s Jackson #1 district tournament.
With their advancement into next week’s district tournament, the Panthers will be set up to face top-seeded South Webster, 3-0 winners over Belpre, Thursday on their home court.
In their win over Manchester, senior Jaelyn Warnock was a key factor for the Panthers.
Warnock led Clay with 26 kills, eight service aces, and also contributed defensively with 22 digs.
With 26 kills added to her total, Warnock increased her lead in kills in Division IV in the state of Ohio with a state-high 437 kills.
Shaley Munion, an All-SOC I first team selection alongside teammates Warnock and Hannah Phipps, contributed a team high 26 digs, a team high 38 assists, and a team high 20 service points. Phipps added 20 digs and 14 service receptions to her totals for the season in Thursday’s win, also.
Kyleigh Oliver led the Panthers with a team high 21 service receptions in Thursday’s win.
Morgan McCoy led Clay with one solo block. McKayla Colley finished with nine kills,
Clay and South Webster are set to face off in Jackson Wednesday, October 23rd at 6 p.m.
