Pirates sweep North Adams, Portsmouth in tri-match

PORTSMOUTH – During their annual tri-match Saturday, the undefeated Wheelsburg Pirates (19-0, 13-0 SOC II) swept both North Adams (25-15, 25-14) and Portsmouth (25-2, 25-14) to continue their unbeaten start.

In their two wins, Wheelersburg was led offensively by Emily Boggs who had a team-high 17 kills, Kylee Barney who had 12 kills and two blocks, Mallory Bergan who had 10 kills, and Lauren Jolly who had 47 assists.

Defensively, Bergan led the Pirates with a team-high 13 digs followed by Kaylee Darnell who finished with 11 digs and Boggs who finished with 10 digs.

From the service line, Emily Boggs finished with 21 service points and three aces while Ryleigh Meeker finished with 16 service points and four aces.

Wheelersburg will host Eastern Tuesday as they seek their 20th win of the regular season.
